This first period of work was focused on <em>Salicornia ramossissima<\/em> grown in the fields of our Portuguese partner RIASEARCH.<\/p><p>At CELABOR facilities, we mainly worked on two eco-friendly technologies dealing pressurized solvents available at lab scale (to treat a few grams) and pilot scale (to treat a few kilograms), and which could also be upscaled to industrial scale :<\/p><ul><li>Supercritical CO<sub>2<\/sub> extraction : This technology uses recycled CO<sub>2<\/sub> (at a temperature higher than 31\u00b0C and 73 bars) as a green alternative to fossil apolar solvents (such as hexane or dichloromethane) to extract lipids and lipophilic high added value molecules (carotenoids, phytosterols,\u2026).<\/li><li>Subcritical water extraction : This technology deals with water at a higher temperature that its boiling point (usually between 100 and 200\u00b0C) and under a light pressure (20 bars max) to keep it under liquid state.
