Each cultivation technique has pros and cons, also dependent on the climatic conditions, the plant species and the purpose of the crop plants. Halophyte cultivation provides additional challenges. However, to ensure sustainability, the industry must explore new ingredients and functional additives that enhance animal welfare, disease prevention, and production efficiency.
